Woodwork Competition Open and Junior Sections
Prizes
The prizes awarded in the Woodwork Competition this year are significant.
There are two Sections in the Woodwork Competition.
Open Section – Classes 1 – 5
For each of these Classes in the competition, there are two prizes available.
- First prize is a $50 gift certificate from Carbatec, ‘The Home of Woodworking’.
- Second prize is a $25 gift certificate from the ‘Mighty Helpful’ guys at Mitre 10 in Port Elliot.
Open Section – Class 6 ‘Quirky’
- Ribbon and $50 gift certificate from ‘The Adelaide School of Woodwork’
The Junior section has two categories this year. They are as follows:
The ‘Up to 13 years’ category with two Classes:
- 300 – Wooden Model
- 301 – Any Woodwork Item
The ‘14 to 16 years’ category with three Classes:
- 297 – Wooden Model
- 298 – Small Furniture
- 299 – Any Woodwork Item2. Junior Class (ages 16 and under)
First prize for each Class is a ribbon and $50 gift certificate from ‘The Adelaide School of
Woodwork’.
Second prize in each Class is a ribbon and $25 gift certificate from ‘The Adelaide School of
Woodwork’
Third prize in each Class is a ribbon only.
Eligible contestants for the ‘Junior’ competitions may enter only one item in each class.
There two additional competitions, one for the Open section and one for the Junior section.
These are ‘People’s Choice – Best in Show’ awards, which involve the public voting for their
favourite entry on Saturday.
The prize for both ‘Best in Show’ competitions is a $50 gift certificate from Otto Timber and
another $50 gift certificate from ‘Kies Timber and Home Hardware Goolwa’
The Best in Show competition has no categories; the prizes are awarded to whatever entry
is most beloved by the public on the Saturday of the Show. The entries that receive the most
votes in each ‘Best in Show’ competition win… it’s that simple.
